FAST Logistics Group, the country’s leading end-to-end logistics company, bagged the top prize in the first-ever SCMAP Supply Chain Philippines Excellence Awards for its sustainability initiatives and innovation that reduced its carbon footprint and helped customers achieve their ESG goals.

Besting other entries in the Sustainability and Green Logistics category for logistics service providers, FAST impressed sustainability experts with its logistics solutions that demonstrated a significant positive impact on the environment.

FAST CEO for Logistics Manuel L. Onrejas Jr. and FAST VP for Strategy Gladys S. Ceniza received the award during the ceremony held on Friday, September 13, at the 2024 SCMAP Supply Chain Conference at EDSA Shangri-La Manila in Mandaluyong City. Manny said this recognition serves as a testament to the company’s industry leadership in Philippine logistics.

“We thank the SCMAP for recognizing our sustainable logistics solutions, namely adoption of electric vehicles, solar-powered warehouses, our EV charging station which also uses renewable energy, and our AI load planning,” Manny said.

“We thank our team, our people at FAST Logistics Group, who are working tirelessly to provide our customers and partners with the best of end-to-end logistics solutions. We share this honor with our team for continuously innovating and seeking ways to improve our systems and processes and provide value to our partners,” he added.

The awards aimed to recognize and highlight exemplary practices of manufacturers and service providers that enhance the supply chain’s role in serving customers, creating value for organizations, and improving the lives of stakeholders.

Carbon Footprint Reduction

Under the sustainability and green logistics category, FAST highlighted its innovations to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint. These innovations include energy-efficient logistics strategies and the utilization of advanced systems to make its transport operations more efficient.

FAST reported avoiding 2,669,320 kg of CO2e by harnessing solar energy through its grid-tied photovoltaic system and the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) of the Department of Energy to power its Logistics Hub in Cabuyao, Laguna. Currently, two buildings at the hub run entirely on renewable energy, with one recognized by Kenvue as one of the few 100% renewable-powered distribution centers in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, FAST has installed solar panels at our ColdChain Hub in Imus, Cavite to enhance energy efficiency and reduce electricity costs as part of its commitment to sustainable operations.

FAST also introduced its fully electric vehicle (EV) in the first quarter of 2024, deploying initial units for delivery in Luzon for companies that expressed support for this innovation. The use of EVs powered by renewable energy resulted in a substantial reduction in carbon emissions, amounting to 539,888 kg CO2e. Know more about FAST EV through this video.

Moreover, part of FAST’s sustainable practices is utilizing a Transport Management System or TMS by FAST to automate truckload planning and optimize delivery routes. This resulted in a reduction of 1,730 trucks on the road in just four months at one company’s distribution center.

Furthermore, the time required for manual load planning was reduced from 195 minutes to just 70 minutes for bulk loading and 14 minutes for individual planning. Here’s how TMS helps businesses.

By making its operations more eco-friendly, FAST also helps its partners achieve their ESG goals and reduce their carbon footprint. All these initiatives demonstrate FAST’s commitment to sustainability and green logistics while optimizing supply chain efficiency
