FAST Logistics Group, the leading end-to-end logistics provider in the Philippines, participated in the 31st Supply Link Conference and Exhibit hosted by the Philippine Institute for Supply Management (PISM) which underscored the importance of sustainable solutions in supply chain operations.

Marc Dizon, FAST AVP for Regional Operations, was among the distinguished speakers at the event held on Friday, July 12, at The Podium Hall in Ortigas, Mandaluyong City.

In his speech, Marc underscored FAST’s dedication to incorporating sustainable practices and innovative technologies in its warehouse and transport operations as he emphasized the company’s pivotal role in promoting a greener, more resilient logistics industry in the Philippines.

With the theme, “Building a Future Relevant Supply Chain through ESG,” the 31st Supply Link Conference and Exhibit gathered industry leaders, supply chain professionals, and sustainability advocates. The event aims to offer a platform for companies and businesses to share insights on trends, best practices, and cutting-edge technologies to reduce carbon emissions, improve customer and stakeholder relationships, and make their processes more efficient and resilient.

“Innovation and seeking customer satisfaction are part of our DNA, and these two drive us to continuously improve our processes,” Marc said. “Making supply chain operations sustainable is not just a consideration for us; but an important aspect of how we do business.”

At the 31st Supply Link Conference and Exhibit, FAST Logistics Group highlighted the importance of sustainable supply chain solutions and embracing technology in optimizing operations and driving efficiency. FAST AVP for Regional Operations Marc Dizon was among the distinguished speakers at the event, which gathered industry leaders, business executives, and supply chain professionals.

The Philippines’ First Fully Electric Vehicle

One of FAST’s most impressive sustainability initiatives is the introduction of the Philippines’ first fully electric vehicles (EVs) for product and goods transportation.

During the event, Marc emphasized that FAST EVs run solely on electricity and can travel up to 280 kilometers with just one to three hours of charging, making it a sustainable investment in logistics.

He also noted that each FAST EV is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including GPS and AI-powered dashcams. These tools offer real-time updates on vehicle location, driver behavior, and cargo condition to ensure the safety and integrity of shipment while on the road.

The benefits of these electric trucks are manifold. These help minimize the carbon footprint compared to traditional diesel-powered vehicles. Its use also aligns with the global movement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote cleaner energy sources.

In addition, the lower operational costs and reduced dependency on fossil fuels make FAST EV a financially sound choice for businesses. Watch the video below to learn more about this transport innovation.

Optimizing Transportation with Advanced Systems

FAST also leverages a sophisticated Transport Management System (TMS) developed by its own IT experts to streamline and optimize transportation operations. FAST TMS is a comprehensive suite of software solutions that helps supply chain managers enhance route efficiency, improve truck load utilization, and ensure fewer shipment delays.

Marc underscored that with efficient routes and optimized truck load utilization, TMS ensures that fewer trips are needed to transport goods which reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

It also provides businesses and companies with real-time visibility over delivery trucks and fleet drivers, making operations more seamless and transparent while improving customer service. Tracking shipments and proper documentation of deliveries also improve existing systems within the supply chain.

Hence, TMS not only promotes sustainability but also enhances the bottom line for businesses by improving their operational efficiency. Explore our TMS capabilities here:

Renewable Energy in Warehousing

In addition to these transportation innovations, Marc emphasized that FAST integrates renewable energy into its daily warehouse operations. This reduces the company’s reliance on fossil fuels while still meeting its energy requirements.

He mentioned that FAST uses solar panels in its Cabuyao, Laguna warehouse, as well as the FAST ColdChain Hub in Imus, Cavite. Marc also underscored that the FAST Logistics Hub in Cabuyao stands out as one of the few distribution centers in the Asia-Pacific region powered entirely by 100% renewable energy.

The said project, supported by multinational company Kenvue, was launched within a six-month timeframe to generate clean energy, significantly lowering the carbon footprint of these facilities. The transition to renewable energy sources is a critical step in mitigating climate change and promoting sustainability.

“With renewable energy, we have lesser CO2 emissions but greater long-term financial savings,” Marc added. By investing in solar power, FAST also sets a positive example for other businesses in the logistics industry.

Their approach offers valuable insights for other companies in the Philippines looking to integrate sustainability into their supply chain operations.

The exhibition space allowed FAST to showcase its innovations and solutions in warehouse and transport, enabling event participants to explore beneficial solutions for their businesses.

All of these sustainable practices mark a significant step forward in the logistics industry’s sustainability efforts and set a high standard for others to follow. FAST’s efforts not only contribute to environmental preservation but also enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of logistics operations.
