FAST Logistics Group, the Philippines’ leading provider of integrated end-to-end logistics solutions, has partnered with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Philippines, the first food rescue organization in the country, to deliver more than 1,000 cakes to two orphanages in Cebu, reinforcing a shared commitment to preventing food waste and alleviating hunger in vulnerable communities.

The initiative forms part of a broader effort to rescue quality surplus food and redirect it to communities that need it most, ensuring that excess food does not go to waste while bringing joy and nourishment to children in need.

Through the collaboration, FAST deployed a six-wheeler forward truck to transport the donated cakes from Mandaue City to Sisters of Mary School – Girlstown, Inc. in Talisay City and The Sisters of Mary School – Boystown, Inc. in Cebu City on Saturday, February 28.

“This partnership reflects the power of collaboration in creating meaningful impact,” said FAST CEO for Logistics Manuel L. Onrejas Jr.

“At FAST, we leverage our integrated end-to-end logistics capabilities and nationwide network to support initiatives that go beyond business. We are always willing to work with like-minded organizations to ensure that resources reach communities who need them most.”

By combining SOS Philippines’ food rescue advocacy with FAST’s logistics expertise, the initiative delivered moments of joy to hundreds of children in Cebu.

Collaboration Key to Bridging Surplus and Need

For SOS Philippines, the initiative is part of its broader mission to intercept safe, edible surplus food before it reaches landfills and redirect it to vulnerable sectors such as low-income families, elders, persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), and street dwellers facing food insecurity.

“Every day, good-quality surplus food is at risk of being discarded while many communities continue to face hunger,” said Rachel Q. Luna, Country General Manager of SOS Philippines. “Our mission is to rescue that surplus and redirect it to the communities, transforming potential waste into nourishment and restoring dignity through a circular solution that benefits both people and the planet.”

She said that partnerships like FAST’s enable SOS Philippines to expand its reach, recover more surplus food, and serve more vulnerable communities with greater efficiency and impact, underscoring their belief that collaboration drives meaningful change.

FAST operates the country’s largest transport fleet, with over 3,100 trucks of various sizes and a network of more than 900 trucking partners.
