Boosting Regional Trade – FAST Logistics Joins Focus Group Discussion on Strengthening Davao Logistics and Supply Chain

FAST Logistics Group, the Philippines’ leading third-party logistics (3PL) company and end-to-end logistics solutions provider, joined government leaders and industry stakeholders in a focus group discussion aimed at strengthening Davao’s logistics and supply chain ecosystem. 

Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Supply Chain and Logistics Group in partnership with the DTI Davao Region, the dialogue was held on Thursday, September 17, at Seda Hotel in Davao.

The focus group discussion was led by DTI Undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco and DTI Davao City Field Office City Director Atty. Lucky Siegfred Balleque.

It brought together key players from the logistics industry to identify challenges, opportunities, and practical interventions that can improve the movement of goods and support businesses in Davao. 

The discussion focused on major constraints affecting cargo movement and logistics services, gaps in connectivity among logistics players, opportunities for greater coordination between the private sector and government, and existing initiatives that can be expanded or replicated. 

For FAST, participation in the dialogue reflects its commitment to working with government and industry stakeholders to develop logistics solutions that support businesses, improve supply chain connectivity, and enable regional economic growth. 

Davao: Strategic Gateway for Mindanao Trade 

Davao City continues to play an important role in Mindanao’s economy and serves as a major gateway for the movement of goods across the region. 

Local government data cited during the FGD highlighted the city’s economic scale and growing logistics requirements, including a ₱574.72-billion economy as of 2024 and 12.60% growth in transportation and storage. 

Davao also has significant transport infrastructure, including Sasa International Port and Sta. Ana Wharf, 22 privately owned piers, 12 domestic air routes, and four international air routes, as well as substantial air cargo activity. 

These developments create opportunities for logistics providers to help businesses improve supply chain efficiency, expand market reach, and respond to growing demand. 

Among the opportunities identified during the discussion were the growth of e-commerce and the need for urban fulfillment and last-mile capabilities; increasing demand for cold chain services for agricultural exports such as bananas, pineapples, and durian; logistics support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through shared warehousing and freight solutions; and the expansion of industrial and distribution infrastructure in the region. 

FAST Logistics Group: Infrastructure Investment for Stronger Davao Logistics and Supply Chain 

FAST is already investing in infrastructure and capabilities designed to support these opportunities. Earlier this year, the organization opened its FAST Davao Logistics and Crossdock Mega Hub in Acacia, Barangay Indangan, further strengthening its logistics capacity in Southern Mindanao. The facility offers 18,608.29 square meters of leasable space and 13,840 pallet positions. 

Strategically located approximately 12 kilometers from Davao International Airport and 15 kilometers from the Sasa International Port, FAST Davao Logistics and Crossdock Mega Hub provides businesses with access to key land, RoRo, air, and sea transportation networks. 

The facility is designed to support a wide range of businesses, including large enterprises in consumer goods, retail, manufacturing, and agribusiness. Its flexible warehousing model can also accommodate growing businesses through variable storage options, including pay-per-pallet arrangements. 

The facility complements FAST’s existing warehouse in Sasa, giving the company an expanded presence in one of Mindanao’s most important logistics centers. 

FAST has also been working with Davao-based businesses and MSMEs to address practical logistics challenges. In a recent logistics forum with Davao MSMEs in partnership with the DTI Davao City Field Office, FAST highlighted solutions focused on cost efficiency, reliability, flexible warehousing, transport availability, and nationwide network reach. 

In addition, FAST has been utilizing digital tools and innovations to boost its logistics solutions for Philippine businesses, including those operating in Davao. Among these innovations include the Warehouse Management System powered by Honeywell and Transport Management System powered by FarEye.
