FAST Logistics Group showcased its leadership in the Philippine logistics sector at the 2024 Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show for Visayas, highlighting its innovative solutions and forward-thinking strategies to tackle transport challenges.

The 2024 Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show for Visayas, held from September 18-19 at L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, gathered industry stakeholders and explored innovations in transport systems and management.

In his presentation, FAST District Manager for Western Visayas Regarder Osia emphasized the vital role of transport operations within the supply chain. He underscored the need to address key obstacles such as traffic congestion, rising fuel costs, gaps in driver training, truck dispatch delays, and the sector’s increasing carbon footprint.

“For every problem, we at FAST want to create a solution,” Osia said, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation in logistics. This belief drives FAST to continuously seek out creative and effective strategies to overcome obstacles that hinder efficiency and productivity.

“We aim to provide value for our partners by seeking solutions to our customers’ problems, which is why we continuously invest in technology, infrastructure, and talent development,” Osia said. “Our goal is to ensure that our logistics solutions not only meet but exceed the expectations of our stakeholders.”

The team also conducted a one-day accreditation process for truck owners and companies interested in becoming accredited FAST truckers.

Transport Innovation for Productivity and Efficiency

As a leading provider of end-to-end logistics solutions in the Philippines, FAST demonstrated during the conference how it utilizes technology and streamlined processes to address inefficiencies, supply chain disruptions, and rising operational costs.

Among the solutions presented was FAST’s Transport Management System (TMS), an AI-driven suite of software solutions that optimize routes, improve fleet management, and reduce fuel consumption. Osia elaborated on the FAST AI Planner, a feature within TMS designed to ensure trucks operate at full capacity while considering traffic conditions for more efficient deliveries. Complementing this is the FAST Driver and Trucker App, which streamlines job dispatch and provides GPS-enabled route guidance, further minimizing delays.

To address the gap in driver training and the risk of road accidents, Osia noted that FAST had established the FAST Learning and Innovation Center. “Through TESDA-certified programs, we ensure that our drivers receive top-notch training in logistics and road safety, reducing the risk of accidents,” he said.

Moreover, Osia noted that FAST utilizes AI-powered dashcams to enhance road safety. These dashcams, equipped with GPS tracking and machine learning algorithms, monitor both driver behavior and road conditions in real time.

By capturing and analyzing data as it happens, the system can immediately alert FAST Control Tower to potential risks such as speeding, sudden braking, or distracted driving. This proactive approach allows FAST to address safety issues before they escalate, reducing the likelihood of accidents and ensuring smoother, safer delivery operations.

The conference participants also learned about FleXchange by FAST. Osia explained to them how this system-guided logistics solution speeds up cargo loading time by up to 97%. He also noted that this solution accelerates the dispatch of delivery trucks, enabling drivers to complete more deliveries and ensure faster service for partners.

Commitment to Sustainable Logistics

FAST also showcased its sustainability initiative, the country’s first fully electric trucks for logistics, known as FAST EV. These electric vehicles, which can travel up to 280 kilometers on a single charge, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote greener logistics operations.

This shift is further supported by FAST Recharge, a solar-powered charging network for the electric fleet, allowing FAST EV to operate on 100% renewable energy.

“We take pride that the introduction of FAST EV led to the reduction of carbon emissions of over 539,000 kilograms of CO2 equivalent. This highlights the positive impact of our innovative solutions at FAST, demonstrating our commitment to cleaner and greener logistics practices,” Osia said.
