FAST Chief Information Officer Leo Sacamos Jr. was one of the panelists in the discussion titled, “E-Commerce Logistics Architecture: Overcoming Scalability and Last-Mile Friction” on Thursday, September 17, at the World Trade Center Manila.
LogiSYM Chairman Lawrence Goh moderated the discussion. The panel also featured SPX Philippines Inc. Middle Mile Planning Lead John Patrick Steven Luceno and Quad X Chief Technology Officer Rob Locke.
They explored how technology can help address last-mile delivery friction, high returns-processing costs, and the need for real-time inventory visibility in increasingly complex urban logistics environments.
Smarter Logistics Solutions Powered by AI
The panel discussion examined key challenges facing e-commerce logistics and last-mile delivery in Southeast Asia, including rising operational costs, traffic congestion, supply chain disruptions, and increasingly demanding customer expectations.
During the session, Leo highlighted how AI can accelerate data analysis and enable businesses to make faster, more informed decisions. By processing large volumes of information in real time, AI can help logistics providers identify disruptions, adjust operations, and respond more effectively to changing supply chain conditions.
“AI allows us to process and analyze information much faster, so we can make decisions more quickly,” said Leo. “In logistics, where conditions can change in real time, the ability to respond quickly can make a significant difference in how we serve customers and manage operations.”
The discussion also underscored the growing pressure on logistics providers to deliver faster while keeping costs competitive. Customers increasingly expect speed, convenience, visibility, and reliability, while logistics companies must manage the operational costs associated with fulfilling these expectations.
Leo was also a panelist in the “Supply Chain Leaders Panel: How Supply Chains Are Being Rewired for a Fragmenting, Digital, Low-Carbon World” on Day 1 of LogiSYM 2026.

For FAST, technology serves as an enabler for addressing these challenges across the supply chain. One example is AI-powered load planning. AI also accelerated reporting and automated various operational processes, enabling FAST to respond more efficiently to customer requirements.
To strengthen its multi-modal transportation operations, FAST migrated from its proprietary Transport Management System (TMS) to FarEye’s AI-powered delivery platform. FAST also uses a Honeywell-powered Warehouse Management System (WMS) to automate workflows in its warehouse processes — from inbound receiving to outbound fulfillment.
FAST has also invested in intelligent fleet technologies, including AI-powered dashcams that monitor driver behavior in real-time and encourage safer driving behavior.
With e-commerce continuing to reshape consumer expectations, the panel emphasized that technology alone is not the solution. Logistics providers also need scalable operating models, integrated systems, reliable infrastructure, and the ability to translate data into timely action.
As supply chains become increasingly complex, AI and other emerging technologies can help logistics companies move from simply reacting to disruptions toward anticipating challenges and making more proactive decisions—ultimately creating more responsive and customer-centric supply chains.
